About OCRConvert & OCR
OCRConvert is a free online OCR service. Upload a PDF or image, and we extract the text so you can edit it, search it, or save it as plain text (TXT).
What is OCR?
OCR (optical character recognition) turns images of text into actual text that you can edit, copy, and search. When you scan a document or take a photo of a page, you get an image file. OCR analyzes the shapes of the letters in that image and converts them into machine-encoded text. That text can then be edited in a word processor, searched, indexed, translated, or read aloud by assistive technology.
OCR is used to digitize books and archives, automate data entry from forms and invoices, make PDFs searchable, and extract text from screenshots or photos. Instead of retyping printed or scanned content, you run it through OCR and get editable text in seconds.
Why use OCRConvert?
OCRConvert runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to install—you upload your file, choose the document language and output format (plain text / TXT), and download the result. We support PDFs and common image formats (JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF) and many languages. Your files are processed and then automatically deleted from our servers; we don’t require an account or store your documents.
Whether you need to digitize old paperwork, extract text from a receipt or form, or make a scanned PDF searchable, you can do it in a few clicks. Try it from the home page, or read our FAQ for tips and limits.
