There is no need to install software or create an account—the tool runs in your browser and supports multiple files and many languages. This page lists every supported input format and the available output (currently plain text only) and links directly to the right converter for each.

Input formats we support

We support PDF and the most widely used image formats. PDF is ideal for multi-page scanned documents and forms; JPEG and PNG are common for photos and screenshots; GIF and BMP are less common but fully supported; TIFF (and TIF) are often used for high-quality scans. All of these can contain text that optical character recognition (OCR) can extract. If your file is in one of these formats and the text is readable to the eye, our OCR engine can convert it to plain text. Below you will find a card for each supported conversion (e.g. PDF to TXT, JPG to TXT). Output: plain text (TXT)

Every conversion currently produces a plain-text file with a .txt extension. Plain text contains only the extracted characters—no fonts, colours, or layout. That makes it easy to paste into Word, Google Docs, email, or any editor, and to search or process with scripts and APIs. If you need to keep formatting, you can paste the TXT into a word processor and reapply styles. For most use cases—digitising notes, making PDFs searchable, or feeding text into another tool—TXT is the most portable and flexible option.

How to convert your file

Pick the conversion you need from the cards above (for example PDF to TXT or PNG to TXT). You will be taken to a page with the upload form. Select one or more files from your device; each can be up to the size limit shown on the site. Choose the document language if it is not English—this improves OCR accuracy. Start the conversion and wait for the processing to finish. When it is done, you can download the TXT file. No account or sign-up is required, and the service works on desktop and mobile browsers.

Tips for better results

For the best text extraction, use clear, readable images: avoid heavy shadows, skew, or very low resolution. Straight, well-lit scans and photos of documents usually work well. If your PDF has multiple pages, we process all of them and return one combined TXT file. Supported languages include many scripts (e.g. Latin, Cyrillic, Arabic); selecting the correct language helps the engine recognise characters accurately. If you have many files, you can upload several in one go and download the results when they are ready.
