OCRConvert supports 35 languages for optical character recognition. Choosing the correct language for your document improves accuracy, especially for non-Latin scripts such as Arabic, Chinese, or Cyrillic. Use the cards below to open the converter for a specific language.
Whether your scanned document is in English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, or any of the other supported languages, you can select that language before converting. The OCR engine uses the selected language to recognise characters and produce editable text. No account is required—just pick a language, upload your file, and download the TXT result. This page lists every supported language and links directly to the dedicated conversion page for each.
We support major European, Asian, and Middle Eastern languages, including Latin-script languages (e.g. English, Spanish, French, German), Cyrillic (e.g. Russian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian), Arabic, and many others. For Chinese, both Simplified and Traditional variants are available. Selecting the right language from the list below ensures the engine can correctly identify letters and symbols. Click "Choose conversion" to go to the converter for that language, then upload your image or PDF and download the extracted text.
OCR works by matching shapes in the image to known characters in a given script. If the engine assumes the wrong language or script, it may misread letters or fail on special characters. For example, Cyrillic and Latin letters can look similar but have different meanings; Arabic is read right-to-left. By telling the tool which language your document is in, you get more accurate output and fewer substitution errors. When in doubt, choose the primary language of the text in your file.
Pick a language from the cards above (e.g. English, Spanish, or Japanese). You will be taken to that language's OCR page with the upload form. Select one or more image or PDF files from your device, then start the conversion. The tool will use the selected language to extract the text. When processing is complete, download the plain-text (TXT) file. The same file-size and multi-file limits apply; no sign-up is needed, and the service works in any modern browser on desktop or mobile.
Use clear, readable scans or photos so the text is legible. If your document contains more than one language, choose the dominant one. For mixed-script documents, the engine will do its best with the selected language. Supported languages cover a wide range of scripts—Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Devanagari, CJK, and more—so you can digitise documents in your language of choice. If you have many files in the same language, upload them in one batch and download the results when they are ready.
